Why Families Think We Offer the Best Assisted Living Facility

At Broad Creek Manor, we try to deliver the best assisted living experience possible. Our staff is dedicated to providing compassionate care to our residents and helping them to be as independent as possible.

Our residents enjoy living here, and their families think we offer the best assisted living experience in Harford County. Check out some of our recent reviews:

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist & an Assisted Living Manager in the Memory Care neighborhood of a high-end continuing care retirement community. I have 38 years of experience in the delivery and management of rehabilitation services and direct care for the geriatric population. I have held many positons throughout my career which include: certified nursing assistant, certified medicine aide, facility speech-language pathologist, home health speech-language pathologist, Rehabilitation Director, Area Rehabilitation Director, Regional Rehabilitation Director, and Memory Care Manager.

It was a heart breaking decision to seek placement for my partner of 28 years due to the advancement of her dementia and the inability to care for her at home any longer. Due to my aforementioned experience in multiple care facilities in the Baltimore and surrounding areas, I knew it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to find a facility that would meet my expectations of excellent care. I visited many assisted living and long term care facilities in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Carroll County and Harford County prior to finding Broad Creek Manor.

Prior to COVID-19 restrictions, I visited the facility typically twice a week and those visits usually lasted around 4 hours. My sister visited once a week for the same period of time. When visiting restrictions were modified to include outside visitation, we each came weekly for about an hour. We never witnessed anything but love and respect from the owners and staff in their interactions with the residents and their family members. Broad Creek Manor provides a home like atmosphere and the residents are treated like family. The meals are delicious, I know, I’ve eaten them. The activities available to the residents are modified for each person’s skill level.

Mary Lou received excellent care at Broad Creek Manor prior to her passing at the end of November. Due to her anxiety and subsequent agitation as a result of her dementia, she required a small, quiet environment. When she encountered too much stimuli her anxiety caused her to engage in self-harming actions such as scratching herself, gritting her teeth, and squeezing her arms/legs. Scott & Melissa and their staff demonstrated the ability to foster a peaceful environment. They provided calming and reassurance to Mary Lou when needed to prevent self-injury and to bring her to a peaceful place within herself. They moved her to a private room, at no additional cost, where she could be free of excessive stimuli and listen to music without interruption. Melissa, who is an Occupational Therapist, brings a great deal of knowledge to the residents’ care which enables them to stay as independent as possible for as long as possible.

During her final days the staff was so professional, yet also caring in their approach. I did not wish for Mary Lou to pass alone and they allowed me to be with her. They made meals for my sister and I who had been at the facility for 24 hours. Words cannot begin to describe the gratitude I have towards Broad Creek and the love and attention they heaped upon Mary Lou. I do not believe there is a better place to provide care for a loved one.

July 2020 had me with a daunting task to find my 93 year old mother a place to live where she could be taken care of. She was going downhill rapidly and I knew there had to be hope some place where she would regain her stability and strength. The search was on. However I could find nothing that I thought was suitable. I was looking for a home like setting where she could be happy. A family member suggested Broad Creek Manor. I contacted the Chaneys to talk with them and get a better idea about their facility. Just in talking with them and meeting them I was impressed as to what they offered. The Covid prohibited us from being able to go inside the facility to take a better look. However once on the property I knew this was the place I was looking for. A beautiful private home setting that over looked a lovely view. Only being able to peek in the window I saw a fresh neat and stylish home. I was finally comfortable in knowing that she would be taken care of here and her needs met. The staff is amazing in their caring and loving assistance to each residence. That care is second to none. She is now walking and able to do things that she couldn’t do before. She has finally gained weight and strength with the attention she receives. Broad Creek Manor is able to provide everything I was looking for. My mother is attending the daily activities with confidence regularly. Broad Creek Manor keeps the residence there entertained and moving forward with activities. Residence are not sitting around doing nothing. It’s a fun place to be. Thank you Broad Creek Manor for all that you have done for our family. We now have peace of mind knowing that she is in good hands.

Last spring, my sisters and I were looking for a place that would provide assisted living for our Mom who was 92. We knew about one that Melissa and her husband Scott had recently purchased in Whiteford. . So we visited to check it out in the event our Mom would need it. We were shown what the facilities could offer and were impressed.

About two months later, we realized it was time to get the assistance we very much needed and Mom became a resident. Our entire family soon realized this was exactly what our Mom needed.

The staff was extremely kind, caring and helpful. Eventually as Mom went into hospice the supervisor, Tammy was exceptional in making sure we knew how Mom was doing each day especially during this Covid crisis.

You can be confident in choosing Broad Creek Manor that your loved one will be provided wonderful care by loving people.

Broad Creek Manor has been a real Godsend this past year with all craziness that has been brought to us all. Melissa and Scott and the entire staff have been wonderful and helpful during very trying times, they have made this transition in my mother’s life much more manageable and have helped my family relax a bit more so we can enjoy the time that we get to spend with her.

The facility and the grounds are very beautiful, calming, and peaceful. The care for my mom has been wonderful and really put us at ease and we see that she is very well cared for and she has made new friends and is kept busy on a daily basis! Truly is a fantastic place!

My family placed my brother Terry there in March of 2020. The staff are truly amazing and care so much for the residents. Immaculate view, happy faces and a wonderful home for the people needing assistance. We couldn’t be happier with the care and compassionate heart felt love for our brother Terry that they give so willingly. I highly recommend this facility for anyone that needs assistance and a caring staff that provide the utmost support and love for their residents.

My parents have both stayed at Broad Creek and my mom is still there after my dad’s passing. It is a wonderful facility in an amazing location. The owners Scott & Melissa were so helpful with getting my mom a bedroom at their facility. The need for my mom to be in assisted living came too fast & we didn’t have a clue on where to begin. After speaking with Melissa, she went to the hospital with her Broad Creek supervisor & they spoke with my mom in person to make her feel better about making Broad Creek her new home. Ever since we’ve had constant communication, mom is happy & well cared for, the staff is wonderful, & although we can’t be with mom during the holidays, we understand that they’re following strict Covid-19 policies to ensure everyone’s safety. We’re more than pleased & thankful for everyone at Broad Creek Manor.
