Respite care is another service that Broad Creek Manor Assisted Living provides to northern Maryland and southern Pennsylvania families. In a nutshell, respite care provides relief for caregivers. Caring for a loved one who needs help with bathing, dressing, eating, and other activities of daily living (ADLs) can be exhausting.
That is especially true if your loved one suffers from a form of dementia, and has become forgetful or aggressive. You feel like you just need a break. That’s where respite services come in.
Here at Broad Creek Manor Assisted Living, respite care arrangements must be made in advance. We do not allow caregivers to show up unannounced to drop a loved one off. We handle respite services on a case-by-case basis. In general, you can schedule a respite stay for anywhere between a week and a month.
Respite care with us includes the same services as our long-term assisted living residents (medication management, housing and meals, assistance with ADLs). Scheduling a respite stay is actually a great way to test out an assisted living facility if you think that might be a future option for your loved one.
When you schedule with us, we will ask you questions and may request documentation regarding your loved one’s medical, physical, and emotional needs. This is so that we can best care for them while you take a much-needed break.
You can rest assured that your loved one will be well taken care of, and have all of their needs met in a safe and secure environment.
If you’ve planned a vacation, need to travel for a special event, or simply need some down time from caring for a senior loved one, let us help.
