Assisted Living Activities

Assisted Living Activities Improve Quality of Life

At Broad Creek Manor, we provide our residents with a wide variety of assisted living activities to choose from. Some of our more active residents participate in all of the activities with gusto, while others take a more laid-back approach. Staying active, both mentally and physically, is important no matter what our age, but becomes especially important in the golden years.

The social interaction these activities allow improves the quality of life for older adults in the following ways:

  • Build and strengthen social circles.
  • Provide mental stimulation to reduce mental decline.
  • Build self-confidence.
  • Physical activity helps maintain muscle and improve balance.

If your senior loved one is currently living alone and struggling to manage, assisted living offers a safe and welcoming space to live where they can make new friends and not be lonely anymore.

Some of our supervised assisted living activities include:

  • Gardening Club
  • Cooking Club
  • Card Club
  • Games, including Bingo and Balloon Tennis
  • Music
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Spiritual Services
  • Exercise Classes
  • Trips to Highland Senior Activity Center
  • Classic Car Show
  • Senior Prom
  • Pet Therapy
  • Hair Salon Day

When the weather allows, we take some of these activities out to the covered deck, covered patio, and the grounds. We also use our outdoor space for grilling and holding picnics. We are always open to feedback from our residents and families about what activities engage them the most. We also welcome new activity ideas and will add appropriate activities on request.

Be sure to Like and Follow our Facebook page for examples of some of our activities and to see our residents enjoying themselves.

Connections to the Community

In addition to assisted living activities and game room availability, we also have several connections with the Harford County community. Some of these connections include:

  • Fundraising and walking in The Walk to End Alzheimer’s
  • Receiving donations of produce and flowers from Stark Farms
  • Tea with members of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church
  • Hosting Harford Community College nursing students during their clinical
  • Recruiting new employees at the Harford Community College intern fair

Have an idea of another community connection we can make that will benefit our residents? Let us know!

Read What Some of Our Families Say

Beautiful facility with a caring and attentive staff, a full slate of activities, and fun events to keep the residents mentally and physically engaged. Some assisted living facilities are depressing to visit, BCM is the opposite! We live in the area and, when my siblings and I visit, Mom is always looking great, often with her hair in a cute braid or bun that one of the staff has given her! -Denise H.

I would like to give Broad Creek a 5-star rating. The staff and owners treat their residents like family. Laundry is done every day, they serve good nutritious meals, the rooms are clean, and they offer fun activities. The grounds are lovely and well taken care of. My father loves to walk around the yard and take pictures of the wildlife. -Robin M.
